Hubby and I stayed home on the 4th, we didn’t have our kids nearby and we did not travel to Northern California like we did last year to be with our granddaughter (and now grandson), so we had a quiet day at home. It’s really too hot here in the desert to be hanging outside for any length of time, although our Valley was full of activity for families, etc…with my fibro, the heat is not my friend.. anyway…we went to Applebee’s for some baby back ribs and a good time was had by Carl and I. Later that evening we watched a fireworks show and concert on TV..It was pretty much a regular day except for the reason for the celebrations..And who knows, next year we may be traveling back to be with the grands..
Our son, wife and his cousins spent the evening at one of their local parks and here is my number one firecracker, Grace Lily (and her daddy)!
I had sent some goodies up to them last week and I had found this red, white and blue romper online and HAD to send it..I guess she had a blast running her daddy ragged and the fireworks did not phase her one bit, didn’t even look at them…my daughter in love said that little Jack cried all during the fireworks, which I would suppose is normal for a 2 month old! Now next year he will be running around and Gracie will probably enjoy the actual fireworks.
We have not seen the babies since Gracie’s birthday party at the end of May, and boy am I having Grammy withdrawals..oh my its so hard being so far away, but I am not in a less similar situation than lots of other grandparents, not living close by to our grands. I hate to complain too much about it, we could live a lot further than 500 miles, that’s for sure..
I don’t have a 4th of July photo of Jackson, but here is one that is not too old
They are precious to us and keep us going. Our son and wife will be traveling south to see US the weekend of July 22nd..Three whole days, our older son will also be here for part of that time..he lives about an hour or so away but being a busy guy we don’t see him as much as we would like, either..We are having a family and friends BBQ that weekend to introduce Jackson to my side of our family and our friends who wish to come over and party a little..They were last here this past August when Grace was only 4 months old. My parents, her great grandparents, have only seen Grace once, and have not met Jack yet. They are not able to travel much and are looking forward to seeing their great grandchildren!
Have a wonderful weekend and I am still struggling with my blogging..I keep hanging in there and am trying! I do try to read all your blogs, and Love to hear from you all, too!

What a fabulous little romper suit, and how great that everyone is visiting. Have a great weekend, and Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this special time with your family. I enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteOh my! Your grand babies are so precious! I think they are so lucky to have you in their lives. Glad you get to see them, though I know it's not often enough for your liking. How are your dogs?
ReplyDeleteGreat post Barb. I loved seeing your babies. That outfit Gacie has one is the cutest I have seen. Jack is sure a beautiful little man.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear they will be visiting you soon. What a great family get together that will be.
Great catching up with you again.
I love the red, white, and blue romper! It is soooo cute. I also love the picture of the little guy! I do hope you are staying cool. It is close to 100 degrees here for the last few days with so much humidity too. Heat like that is not my friend either. I do hope today is a better day for you!
