Shingles

No, not shingles on a house...I have shingles. Damn. Started with a rash last Sunday and by Wednesday I was having so much pain I knew what it was, I was just hoping it wasn't. Went to Dr. Cohen here in town, and rats! I was right. He gave me a scrip for Valtrex, it how they treat herpes...shh....shingles is a herpes virus, just not THAT herpes virus, ok! It's supposed to lessen the symptoms and shorten the discomfort and promote healing, also a Rx for Vicodin for pain, which I have used sparingly, I need it at night. And a scrip for something to prevent the after effect of shingles, which is nerve pain. So...I am moving in a week and have shingles..oh happy day. And of course the breakout and blisters are around my underarm and upper back so wearing a bra is impossible. Good thing I have some comfy nighties and a summer robe. I am hoping these are almost gone by next weekend when we make our trek down south..I don't relish the thought of driving (me driving the car) with dogs and pain...but, I will buck up and be ok.

Well, it could be worse and lots of folks are worse off. I am just ticked that I got shingles..

Friday night at the Moose in Montesano

We had a cousin get together at the Moose lodge on Friday night in honor of Cindy being here. It had been 16 years since she last saw most of them..lots of fun!

Monday

It's a holiday right? It's memorial day and yes we need to be thankful for our veterans and those who gave up their lives so we could be free.

Ok here's my problem. It's just another day to me...not because of the veteran thing, but every day runs into the next. and the next. and the next.

I have hives on my back, and my right arm is aching..I can barely breathe tonight and will be glad when the inhaler my dr. prescribed for me last week gets here.
Guess I will warm up some leftovers and head to bed.

Tomorrow is another day.

Seafood, Seafood, Seafood!

Well, we spent Tuesday night in Seattle after picking up my sis Cindy and her better half Bruce flew into Seattle to spend a few days..anyway..we had a wonderful dinner with our cousin Teri who lives up there, and then Wednesday we went to Pike Market and checked out everything.






Well I did something I have never done before but always wanted to, and that is BUY FISH..Copper River King salmont fillets, to be exact..which are the prime of the prime of salmon from what I understand..Bruce bought a few dungeness crabs, I also picked up a Meyer Lemon for the salmon, some fresh green beans and I had baking potatoes here at the Cottage. Well, tonight we ate like Kings! I have never cooked salmon before, so I took my 9x13 glass pan, sprayed it all over with butter flavor Pam spray, then I placed the filet in the pan skin down, seasoned with salt and pepper, and sliced Meyer lemons on top. I placed the pan under the broiler and low broiled it for about 15 minutes. Served with the benas and potatoes and ssprinkled with lemon juice..Well, goodness..darn best salmon I have ever sunk my teeth into..we polished it all off..Bruce stood at the sink and cracked his crab and we just made pigs out of ourselves...but it was fun and we enjoyed every bite!

Ok ok

Have you ever typed an entire blog entry WITH PICTURES and hit a button accidentaly and the whole friggi thing just disappears...well, that happened to me last night..i was so ticked i said forget it....I am going to start again...if I lose it this time, that's it.

Since I had an overwhelming amount of support for my blog, well the ones that count, anyway, I will continue to post the nonsense and dumb stuff that happens in our day to day life.

We are hoping to close on the house this next week, our loan lock expires on the
22nd and I know everyone from the agent, to the escrow to the lender is busting chops to get their ducks in a row...We won't be heading south until the first week of June, but we just want it over with so we can literally 'move on'.

Of course, now its getting hot in that desert and everyone who knows me knows I HATE the heat, and as much as the rain and cold have about wiped me out here, you know I will be crabbing and bitching about the heat after a week so bear with me. We have air conditioning down there and it HAS to be a better unit than the cheapie builder model that was in that utah house..that unit sucked, it was not big enough for that house and the builder screwed up the ducting so my bedroom of course was the hottest one in the house..no air flow...combine that with hot flashes, well you get the picture..the hot flashes are under control for now, so I think I will be ok. I guarantee this momma will not be driving around in the heat of the day with my old cars, except to head over to mom and dad's to swim..it will be too hot to even walk by July. Needless to say we are anxious for the house to close so we can begin a new chapter of our lives.

Here are a couple things I've had in storage that I want to use in the house

Pain

Ok, so it's 5 am and I am in pain..last night as I was getting into bed, I bent over to lift Halo my doxie up, and I felt IT pop. My weak spot in my lower right back...ooh boy..so I sucked it up, was tired and thought, well I will sleep it off and probably be ok. Fast forward to 3:30 this morning, and same doxie needs to go outside. So I somehow get myself out of bed, let him out, and let the spinning begin. I ended up laying down on the floor because I know the feeling, was going to keel over, and me falling would be like an elphant dropping...I hated to do it but I yelled at Carl to get up, so he did and just kind of sat there with me. I managed to get up again after a few minutes, right now, took 3 aleve and sitting here with heat on my butt.

Anyway, mad at myself, I know better than to try to lift the dog...this is usually how I throw my back out everytime. Smack!

Would sure like to have a closing date for the house, we can't arrange for start up of utilities or anything yet...we need to make arrangements to move the stuff out of storage in southern Utah and get it to the new place..this is the first time we have had a contract on a house with no close of escrow date. Our agent did write down 40 days, and that was April 16th, soo. we must be getting close I would guess..our loan lock expires on the 22nd, so what is that another week. So until we hear something from the lender, we are in LIMBO. I hate LIMBO.

Well might try to doze off for a bit..

Friday still nothing goin' on here...

I woke up very early this morning, thanks to 'the claw' (India) she has to go out so of course she has to wake ME up and does it with her paw, aka claw..it was 4:30..well then by the time I let her out, go potty, let her in, then Halo or Gracie, will need to go, let them out, let them in. IF I am lucky, the other two go out together, otherwise it's a 15 minute ordeal and by then I am wide awake..my days can be very, very long.

Anyway, as I was contemplating life with dogs, I felt the need to escape. Run..Hide..you get the drift. thought about booking a flight and just heading down to my mom's for a few days, then realized I am just not up and feeling good enough for that kind of travel right now..so nixed that. I don't know, hoping we close on our house in DHS soon so we can GET OUT OF HERE. Don't get me wrong, I love my little cottage, but that's what it is, a LITTLE cottage, fine for summer and fall living, not good for winter or spring. Never again..but it has been a godsend for us. Right now I just want out.

My wonderful oldest son Dan sent me some beautiful long stemmed roses for Mother's day..gosh they smell great and I have them sitting on the sofa table right in front of me so I can enjoy them...

Washing and Drying

Well today we went to Olympia to home depot to just LOOK at washer and dryers...I knew I wanted another front load set..I loved my last front load set that we sold to our buyers in Utah....we found a pair of LG front loader washer and dryer, with the steam wash, allergiene cycle, and the dryer is a steam dryer. LG is rated really well, and the sale ended TODAY.. Granted I have no house yet, but we are tentatively having it delivered to the new house from the Palm Springs home depot June 2nd..we are figuring to be there by then! We can always move that date up or back. Oh and I was not going to get pedestals this time, but I tried to bend down on those front load machines and they are just too old for this old gal with the arthritic back and neck, plust that will give me some extra storage..Carl is going to take down the wire shelf that came with the place and put in cabinets to match the kitchen since it's right off the kitchen on the way to the garage. So, that is done...whew..



Wow it was really raining, has been rainy and windy since Monday..peeps, this is getting really, really O-L-D. I finally figured out that one of the reasons i don't do anything is there is nothing to do. the place is charming, but small. doesnt really get very dirty except for dogs tracking MUD in. Now if they could just track it back out with them, but thats not going to happen. Nope.

Well, that's it for now I guess....
