Rain
Ok, it wasn't worthy of 'storm watch' but we did get some rain this morning..it was enough to wet the front courtyard, mess up the windows and make me use the windshield wipers on my errand to Office Max (the new one by my house...next to in n out yippee). Stayed cloudy the rest of the day...don't know what tomorrow holds in store, would love to see more moisture!
I am the only person I know that it takes almost an entire day to make one greeting card from the computer. Honest. What a ditz....sheesh.
Worked on cleaning out the pantry this morning...I didn't know what was where and that is just a total waste of food. Lots of boxed stuff and floury things had to be tossed, I had called Dan my grocery expert, and he said if it's past the 'best used by' date or no date at all...toss. So I did! Most of it is mom's stuff so I boxed it up for her. She had most of the canned goods and oils....I need to go through the cabinet where the spices are next..
We have an agent bringing buyers through tomorrow between 11 and 12 so no deep cleaning for me in the morning...Get it picked up, vacuumed, mopped and dogs out for a ride. One of these days the right buyer will show up. Or not. It's getting old but at least it's being looked at....so fingers crossed all!

The Perks Of Being Over 50

This is for my 'old' friends!
This may apply to a few of us, the rest can chuckle away, their turn is coming....
Chapter 1. Perks of being over 50.
1. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.
2. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.
3. No one expects you to run--anywhere.
4. People call at 9 PM and ask, Did I wake you????
5. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
6. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.
7. Things you buy now won't wear out.
8. You can eat supper at 4 PM
9. You can live without sex but not your glasses.
10. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.
11. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.
12. You quit t rying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.
13. You sing along with elevator music.
14. Your eyes won't get much worse.
15. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to payoff.
16. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.
17. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.
18. Your supply of brain cells are finally down to manageable size.
19. You can't remember who sent you this list .
20. And you notice these are all in Big Print for your convenience.
Chapter 2: Games for when you are older.
1. Sag, You're it.
Chapter 2: Games for when you are older.
1. Sag, You're it.
2. Pin the Toupee on the Bald Guy.
3. 20 questions shouted into your good ear.
4. Kick the bucket.
5. Red Rover, Red Rover, the nurse says Bend Over.
6. Doc, Doc, Goose.
7. Simon says something incoherent.
8. Hide and go pee.

Chapter 3: Signs of Menopause.
1. You sell your home heating system at a yard sale.
1. You sell your home heating system at a yard sale.
2. Your husband jokes that instead of buying a wood stove, he is using you to heat the family room this winter. Rather than just saying you are not amused, you shoot him.
3. You have to write post-it notes with your kids' names on them.
4. You change your underwear after every sneeze.
5. You're on so much estrogen that you take your Brownie troop on a field trip to Chippendale's.
Chapter 4: Signs of wear.
"OLD" IS WHEN..... Your sweetie says, "Let's go upstairs and make love," and you answer, "Pick one, I can't do both!""
OLD" IS WHEN..... Your friends compliment you on your new alligator shoes, and you're barefoot.
"OLD" IS WHEN..... A sexy babe catches your fancy and your pacemaker opens the garage door.
"OLD" IS WHEN..... Going braless pulls all the wrinkles out of your face.
"OLD" IS WHEN..... You don't care where your spouse goes, just as long as you don't have to go along.
"OLD" IS WHEN..... You are cautioned to slow down by the doctor instead of by the police.
"OLD" IS WHEN..... "Getting a little action" means I don't need to take any fiber today.
"OLD" IS WHEN..... "Getting lucky" means you find your car in the parking lot.
"OLD" IS WHEN..... An "all-nighter" means not getting up to pee.
If you're under 50, this may be amusing. If you're over 50, this is probably reality.
Tuesday
Gee...its been a cruddy day...I think what I'm going to do tomorrow is find whatever belongs to my folks and box it up....it has been frustrating me...for some reason it agitates me when mom asks me where this is or that is, especially when I think she gave me something but forgets they did. Anyway I am going to just try to put whatever is theirs in boxes so they are ready to go and it will give me something constructive to do. I am frustrated because I am also sad. I wish this had worked out and I feel really badly that it didn't. This experience has changed all of us.
Full moon out tonight, maybe that's why I'm feeling cruddy. Think I will have a dish of ice cream and that should help:)
We did have some folks come look at the house this morning. We must be in the right price point now as we have had several come in the last two weeks since we dropped it. All we can hope for is someone cares enough and likes enough to make us an offer. We can work with an offer. Yes it's frustrating but at least it's being shown. That's all we an ask for...we do have an awesome agent and he is trying! Not his fault....and the interest rates dropped today so maybe that's some incentive for buyers...I would love to be able to buy another house now with those interest rates...have to hope they stay down there for a while.
Well, that's Tuesday...nothing too exciting

Lake Powell/Glen Canyon Dam
Sunday Silliness
Got your attention with that~ not silly at all, tired is more like it! Carl and I drove into Vegas yesterday to meet up with our friends Sherry and Jerry...Sherry and I worked together at Northview, she was a teacher and I only a humble workerperson haha...Anyway we have kept in touch over the last few years and she and I have met up a couple of times but husbands had not met. We had a blast, she and Jerry live at Sun City Anthem, its not like any Sun City I have ever seen....I could not believe how active and youthful everyone we saw was..so many things to do there, and then you have Vegas a few miles away, they are in Henderson, up against the hills...They gave us a tour of all their clubhouses and places of interest at Sun City, then we all drove out to Lake Las Vegas..oh my such luxury in the middle of the desert...hotsy totsy hotels, million dollar homes, the lake, wow. After that we ate dinner at the buffet at the South Point Casino Hotel and saw Sha Na Na perform...it was great....the boys loved their tv show when they were little...every saturday night we had to watch Sha Na Na...We got home about 1 a.m. this morning and neither of us are worth a can of beans...tomorrow is a new day...its a good lazy day to watch football...
Ok weather people say it might snow here. Yeah right, they lie! We'll see what happens this week I would place a bet that it does not...maybe we will be pleasantly surprised, at least it would be a different color here than brown and red, haha.
Later..

Humpday Wednesday
An uneventful day...that's it. The only interesting thing that happened is that is was freakin' COLD...never got about 34 out. It was partly sunny out so looks were deceiving. I had a doctor appointment this morning, gee I thought the car would never warm up. Note to self: Next car has heated seats:) Then I came home, see, nothing exciting here.
Tomorrow we are driving out to Lake Powell with our friends Lynn and his wife Arti. None of us has ever been there and it's somewhere to go, I guess. I think it's even colder out there, but as long as there's no snow we are ok. Well, we are ok even if it snows. In fact, that would make awesome photos, wouldn't it? It's about 150 miles east of here so an all day trip. Maybe on the way there we can roll through Hildale and Colorado City and see how the pligs are doing, maybe on the way home we can stop in Kanab and go to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Depends on the time and weather, I guess. Anyway, I should have some good pictures to post tomorrow night or Friday.
Another thing about southern Utah: It's either frickin hot or frickin cold, nothing inbetween. I hope we are out of here before the frickin hot starts up again:) We always have our cottage in Washington for the summer...no worries!

Thought I would post some pics...these are of mom and dad's new house in Desert Hot Springs, CA. They closed escrow on December 31st...and moving by the end of the month. The end of another chapter in our life. We thought it would work, it didn't. Anyway its a very nice house, 3 years old 1700 sq feet with an awesome pool. It was a bank repo so they got a great deal, at least 75,000 below the same house up the street with no pool so dad is a happy camper..my brother is down there, along with the nephews...they will be fine. Now if our place would just sell.....
Dog's Day Out
Well, Carl and I both woke up just feeling overwhelmed. With life. He said his mind tells him he has things to do, but the body says the opposite, so I told him, well do the opposite then. I needed a boost, he needed a boost so I suggested we take the jeep out for a ride and take the DOGS with us. Now those of you who know our dogs are aware they are a handful. Well we got them into the jeep, Halo on my lap of course because the big girls were stomping on him, and off we went. We headed up highway 18 up through Snow Canyon and ended up about 20 miles up...we saw a lake so we turned off, it was Baker reservoir. Small but lots of water and some guys were fishing..so we find a trail and off we went. We didn't walk too far, but the dogs had a blast just running around unleased and getting dirty...we were all worn out, then we headed back home. Will definitely head up that highway again and see where we end up. I thought we might see some snow, but we didn't get high enough I guess.
Tonight we went to Taco Tuesday for our regular date night out with our friends Arti and Lynn Anderson, they live in Coral Canyon and are from the San Gabriel area, in fact Arti grew up not far from me, and her husband Lynn graduated from Rosemead HS the year after me. Small world. Anyway, Del Taco has tacos 3 for 99 cents on tuesdays after 3. There is actually quite a bunch of regulars that show up. Our motto is 'cheap is good'. Lynn and Carl get into quite a few adventures together. A typical boys day out includes going to Target and saying hi to our friend Lynnette who works there, she probably thinks they are stalkers! Then they might head to WalMart and putz around, then over to Costco and walk around for the free samples, if that doesnt fill them up then they get the 1.50 hot dog and coke. They sit there and gossip just like old women, and keep an eye out for the pligs.
Anyway, that was our day, maybe next time we will hike a little further with the dogs, and we definitely need to bug out of this house more often...sometimes it feels like a prison (no offense, Scott!)

Why can't I sleep?
I have to tell you...this garbage is getting so old..most everyone knows I have chronic sleep issues, for at least the last 3 years. If I can get to sleep, I can't stay asleep. Last night I couldn't get to sleep, or stay asleep...I hate that! I think I finally went to bed about midnight, not because I was sleepy, because my legs were jumping around..very agitated..I woke up at 3:30 so what's that? 3 hours? No wonder I'm a mess.
I need to sit down this morning and make myself send out the bills...house payment, credit card, yuk...I told Carl the other day it's just too overwhelming for me anymore...maybe I am just burned out. Who knows, if anyone has a clue please fill me in.
I got the slide show to work and will keep trying to add pictures as I can.

January Musings!
I am new to this blogging stuff so forgive me if it looks hokey! I thought this would be a fun way to stay in touch, post photos and let our friends and family know what's happening in the dogmom family!
Can you believe it's 2008? Weren't we just wigging out about new years eve 1999 because all the world's computers were going to fail? The end of the world? Doh. Well it was fun to contemplate. Eloda, Denise and I were wondering if you remember where you put our time capsule....I think we get to open it on New Years Eve 2009. Gosh, I wonder what we all put in there. I can about guarantee I put in a tv guide. I don't know why I think I did that, but I would bet money there's one in there. Wonder what the kids put in..hard to tell! Anyway, point of this is that time has gone so fast, it flies by:)
Well, will continue some posting later..we have such exciting things coming up in the Dog family...DogDad and DogKids are well...:)
