Pink Saturday in Illinois!

Thanks firstly to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound-Pink Saturday.  A big shout out and thanks to her for so graciously hosting our Saturday fun!  Be sure to visit and see all the wonderful bloggers participating!

We are spending the holiday at my sister’s home in western Illinois.  She and her husband live out in the country just east of the Mississippi River..we arrived this past Monday and plan to stay until midweek, leaving around the 2nd of December for the 3 day drive home.  We had a wonderful casual Thanksgiving just the four of us, and the four legged critters too.

We left home in Southern CA on Friday the 20th..First night was spent in Gallup, NM..2nd night in Oklahoma City and 3rd night was in DesMoines, Iowa.  We brought our little doxie Halo along, he has been a dream and a very good traveler!

I really don’t have any pink pictures so far this week.  We are heading to a local winery today so maybe I will find some cool pictures there..I thought I would post a few pictures of our trip so far.

Today we visited Massbach Ridge Winery in Elizabeth, IL.  It’s a small family owned winery in NW Illinois, very quaint and charming, with delicious wines may I add!  While we were tasting, I took some pictures…Enjoy!  And yes, they are PINK…

I especially loved this metal ‘purse’ for used wine corks.  I might have to go back to get this!!!

Pink Saturday 11-21-2009

As I was typing the title, it occurred to me that HOLY CRAP, it’s almost 2010.  Wasn’t it just 1999?  Remember Y2K?  How did 10 years pass THAT fast??  A lot has happened in the past 10 years, some good, some not so good, but we are still hanging in there and among the living, so that in itself IS a good thing!

Enough of that!  Thanks to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for sponsoring our wonderful Pink Saturdays!  As you are reading this, I will be ‘on the road’ heading towards my sister’s home in Illinois

Oh Lord I hope there isn’t that much snow yet..and the roads are clear for us!

MERRY PINK SATURDAY

Yes, I know it’s only November but I have had Christmas on my mind the last couple days..you see DogPaw went to southern Utah earlier this week and retrieved our holiday decorations and a lot more from our last storage unit there…when we moved from southern Utah in August 2008 to WA state we put everything in storage.  When we bought this place and moved in June of this year, most everything came out of storage except the last bit and I told DogPaw I was not NOT having a Christmas tree again, ever.  Anyway, thus the Christmas on my mind!

FATIGUE

May I be honest about something?  I hate it.  Hate Hate Hate.  I hate that I feel this way.  I might as well throw PAIN in there too, but today it’s the FATIGUE.

Most of you know, but I have chronic Epstein Barr Virus, Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia.  It’s just the pits and affects just about every corner of my life.

I needed a haircut.  BADLY, we are talking 8 weeks since my last cut, and on short hair that is like 8 months.  My wonderful friend and hairstylist lives near our old home, about 70 miles away…Ellyn has been cutting my hair, my mom’s hair, my bestest girl Denise’s hair, etc..for years.  I managed when we lived out of Southern CA for those 4 years, but when we came back ‘home’, no question who was going to cut MY hair again.  Ellyn.  So in desperation I called Ellyn the other day and she said ‘come Wednesday at noon and bring your cute mom’.  Mom and I piled in my car this morning and headed in to see Ellyn.  I don’t drive a lot anymore, but I have been making myself because I don’t want to lose those skills..Got to Ellyn’s, got our haircut, got in the car to come home, stopped for a hot dog…not a bad drive, it was ok.  I dropped mom off at her house, came home and literally crashed.  Now, why would a normal person crash after a 3 hour car ride, normal traffic, eating a hot dog for lunch and putting gas in her car.  They wouldn’t.

I just woke up, it’s 7 pm.  Now that makes me mad, and I feel so cranky and lumpy.  We move back ‘home’ to SoCal, and I cant even go get a haircut without crashing and burning…My best friend is about 70 miles away too, do you think I could get myself over there?  No.  Most days I can barely pick up the phone and call anyone.  And I feel real guilty.  Real.

And the cycle goes on and on..and I miss my old life..
