I started thinking about the color pink and it’s meaning, I knew what Pink was, but thought there must be some history to the name!
First thanks to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for all her hard work on Pink Saturdays..be sure to visit her first, then stop over and visit White Sheep Farm..I just re-found this blog this past week, I had enjoyed it but guess I did not have it on my favorites list:( Anyway, the author is an awesome lady so stop by!
Pink is a pale red color; the use of the word for the color we know today as pink was first recorded in the late 17th century . The color Pink itself is a combination of red and white. Other hues of pink may be combinations of rose and white, magenta and white, or orange and white.
In Western culture, the practice of assigning pink to an individual gender began in the 1920s.
From then until the 1940s, pink was considered appropriate for boys because being related to red it was the more masculine and decided color, while blue was considered appropriate for girls because it was the more delicate and dainty color.
The use of pink in familiar phrases can help a designer see how their color of choice might be perceived by others — both the positive and negative aspects.
