Nothing much to report!
Monday morning, Carl had a recheck appointment here at the University of Nevada, Reno, with his endocrinologist or results of lab testing and his ultrasound of the neck and bone density results. Found out that today, Friday, was his last day before he left the state for work and to live. Ugh. Carl has elevated calcium level and elevated parathyroid hormone levels in his blood, which can suck the calcium out of the bones and cause brittle bones. Which the bone density scan confirmed. So of courses this doctor doesn't want to recommend or send him for surgery or medication treatment due to the fact that the dr is leaving town and can't follow up! ! We decided to try to get him referred through the local VA to their endocrinologist. I have to take his lab and ultrasound reports to his VA primary care dr today so they can work on that. I will be glad when all his care is through the VA.
We travelled to our son's home in Roseville, a two hour drive on Monday afternoon. It was so HOT. I kept saying, Satan called and wants his weather back! Was close to 102 on Monday and Tuesday. We went to our grandson Jackson's first practice on Monday late afternoon for his Fall Baseball team. Again, HOT. Even in the shade, HOT.
Tuesday Carl had an appointment at the Sacramento VA for his yearly dermatology check. Everything was fine, a few spots burned off. No issues thank goodness.
Wednesday morning I had an appointment with Jamie for a cut and color.. Nice to treat myself! Jamie and I always have fun and laughs and heart to heart talks. Good therapy!
We drove home Wednesday afternoon after stopping at Starbuck's for a treat. Even Prince had a Puppachino!
Yesterday, Thursday, we did a lot of errands after Carl's physical therapy appt and had a nice lunch out. Later in the afternoon we had a painter come and spray stain on our wood fence. We live in a HOA and are required to stain the fences every 3 years. They provide 5 gallons of stain, we had to buy a couple more gallons since we have a lot of fence. Money well spent to have it done for us, we aren't able to do these type of things any longer. Carl was exhausted last night!
Our neighbor Will came over and installed the new shower head we bought for our master bath shower, the old one came from our previous home and developed a crack. Looks nice, Carl was too tired last night to try it out, but he took a shower this morning and said it was great. Thank you, Will! We have been blessed with wonderful neighbors that is for sure. So helpful to us old folks...
Today going for a mani/pedi this afternoon in preparation for our cruise in 4 days! Need to finish laying out clothes and finish the packing by tomorrow. So excited to cruise to Alaska!
That's about it. Have a great weekend!

Love reading about your daily activities! You and Carl are so much more busy than I am!
ReplyDeleteWe are pretty busy, mostly doctor appointments, but it does get us out of the house!
DeletePraying.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much..
DeleteHello - it was good to see you post! I lost most of my addresses and followers a couple of years ago - have been trying to get things back myself.
ReplyDeleteWho has raised calcium in their blood - I do too - can't find out why.
It is HOT here too.
Disco loves Puppachinos too.
Getting all ready for your cruise!
I hope you have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sandie
Hi Sandie! Glad you are blogging again too, Carl has the elevated calcium in his blood, for the last couple years. The endocrinologist says it is probably related to his Parathyroid glands. Have they tested your Parathyroid hormone level??
DeleteOh my, I hope you can get Carl straightened out with the VA Dr soon, waiting is hard.
ReplyDeleteA two hour drive isn't bad, but being outside in the heat is no fun... especially in fall ball!
Your hair looks great, I have fun with my hairdresser too and it is a treat! I love how Prince had a treat too.
I'm glad to hear that you have help near you, I'm glad my parents have friends and help near them.
Have a wonderful cruise, Alaska is amazing! We hope to go back in '20 because we liked it so much.
I can bareely toleratate the hot temps. I have fibromyalgia, and I think that doesn't help!
DeleteWe are so grateful for our neighbors, if we need anything, one of them is on it right away.
First cruise to Alaska, can't wait!
Goodness, you've been really busy. I hope you can relax soon before your upcoming trip. Be sure to take lots of photos on your cruise. I'm so glad you treated Prince to a cool drink too. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.
ReplyDeleteHi Edna, yes will be taking lots of pictures and there are probably a couple blog posts coming when we return! Hoping to relax because the getting ready for this trip is wearing me out!
DeleteOh my gosh...you've had a lot going on! Love the cut and color!
ReplyDeleteI hope your hubby gets on the mend!!! I've found that growing older certainly does have it's challenges! Doesn't it?
I know you are going to have a fabulous time on your cruise. My brother and sister-in-love took this cruise and they were overwhelmed! They absolutely loved it. So happy you get to go!
More soon, friend. Thank you for visiting!
<3 R
Thanks for stopping by, Rebecca..yes, we have our challenges. Carl has Parkinson's so that adds to the mix.
DeleteTake care!
UGH...a most difficult journey. My sister has it as well! <3
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by Ad for commenting on my post about retirement! My Dad retired but my mom kept working which she regretted til the day she died. Her last day of work was the day my Dad died at 67 years old. She spent her retirement without him and always warned me to retire early because you never know what the future holds. I took it to heart.I will be doing a follow up post and highlighting some of the comments...
